After a gap of almost five days, most parts of Bihar witnessed a clear sky on Wednesday, giving a hope of some relief from the biting cold. This, however, was not the case as the minimum temperature graph maintained a downward trend, making conditions tougher.
“Most of the places recorded a drop in minimum temperature level varying between 3 to 4 degrees C,” meteorologist S I Laskar said and attributed this to strong westerlies sweeping the state. Wind speed, in fact, was 10 to 12 km per hour.
Minimum temperature in Patna on Wednesday was 6.8 degrees C, more than 3 degrees C less than the normal of 10 degrees C. The case was more or less same at Bhagalpur, Gaya and Purnia where minimum temperature was 2.6, 4.1 and 2.2 degrees C, respectively, below the normal. The minimum temperature levels were 9.4, 5.9 and 6.8 degrees C at Bhagalpur, Gaya and Purnia respectively.
“Windy conditions are likely to prevail in the next 48 hours, but clear sky may allow the day temperature to rise a little bit,” Laskar said, adding minimum temperature levels, however, are not expected to dip further.
The meteorologist said mornings and nights would be foggy and northern districts of the state would witness a more dense cover of fog.
